What is a Small Business Development Center? • A Small Business Development Center provides management and technical assistance to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs through one-on-one business consulting and low cost training Portland Community College Small Business Development Center
SBDC Background • Created in Oregon in the 80’s when there was a major down turn in the economy • Funded by: • Federal Funding: U.S. Small Business Administration • State Funding: Oregon Economic and Community Development Department • Local Funding: Community Colleges and Universities Portland Community College Small Business Development Center

Business Advising • Confidential, in-depth, one-on-one counseling assistance to Oregon small businesses on the techniques, procedures and strategies of starting, managing and running a business. • Topics range from opening a new business to getting out of business, from finding new markets, understanding and finding financing options to cash flow concerns, from finding suppliers in foreign markets to finding buyers in foreign markets. • Available by appointment through your local SBDC or the eSBDC.
