Alcohol & Substance Policy Article VIII, Section 1 Member Policy • “At no time shall any alcoholic beverage or drug be served or consumed at any ASC function, nor shall any member arrive under the influence. Possession or consumption of substances, or intoxication of a member shall be grounds for removal from the function at the discretion of the Officers present at the function. An ASC function shall be defined as any meeting, social, or service event in which the membership is involved. • At no time shall any substances be consumed or purchased while wearing ASC apparel. • A violation of any part of this policy shall be grounds for placing a member on probation status.”

7. Alcohol & Substance Policy Article VIII, Section 2 Leadership Policy A member in leadership is defined as any member serving as a Committee Head, a leader of a new member group small group, a Chair position, or any ASC Officer. These students will adhere to all rules stated for members. These students are not to consume substances illegally, in public or private. These students of legal drinking age are not to consume alcohol in public in the Bryan/College Station area. A violation of this policy shall be determined by the Officers and shall be grounds for removal from office, as stated in Article VI, Section 11.

8. The purpose of this leadership substance policy is based on the following biblical truths: • James 3:1 “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” • 1 Corinthians 8:9 “But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak” • 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober-minded be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” We chose to make this small sacrifice so we will not be a stumbling block for our sisters or nonbelievers so we may further the gospel.

9. Applicant requirements for Prez and Vice Prez • Article V, Section 6 & 7 • “The student must have served a prior term as an Executive Officer, however if no eligible members run for the position of President, then the floor is open to any member who has previously served in leadership.”

10. Service Project Cancelations Article III, Section 5 Membership • “In circumstances in which a member cancels within 24 hours, she will not be required to make up the service point if the member finds a substitute on her behalf upon notification of cancelation.”

Inactive vs. Probation? • Probation • If membership requirements aren’t fulfilled (Can be corrected by making up points the following semester) • Few people will know about this • Next semester • Inactive – “taking a semester off” • Must sumbit a Change of Status form to Katie (GoogleDoc!) • 2 non-consecutive Inactive semesters allowed before one must repeat their New Girl semester • Don’t pay dues, don’t attend social events, or buy merchandise • This semester

14. Conflict with Monday Night Meetings • 1stOption: • Can you adjust your schedule? Ask for time off? If so… •  There will be no more conflict! (: •  We know this is an inconvenience, but if it is possible for you to fix the conflict personally, this is the best option.

15. 2ndOption: • Are you only going to miss a few meetings? (3-4?) If so… •  We recommend staying as a normal member this semester and going on probation next semester. •  This semester would be normal. •  Next semester, you would be placed on probation. Simply meaning, you would make up the meetings you missed with extra service projects. Once completed, you would be taken off of probation.

16. Conflict with Monday Night Meetings 3rdOption: • Are you going to miss the majority of meetings? If so… •  We recommend going inactive this semester. •  Inactive simply means “taking a semester off ”of ASC. •  You will not pay dues, meaning you cannot attend social events or receive merchandise. •  Next semester, you will just become active again and everything goes back to normal.

Dues • Dues are $90 per semester • Lump sum or first installment is due on OCTOBER 6th • Second installment is due on NOVEMBER 3rd • If you have not paid dues by November 3rd, you will become an inactive member • Once your dues are paid in full, you will become an active member again • Please bring exact change & no coins!

21. Scholarship Applications • Scholarship applications can be obtained by emailing Emmy Parker at emmy_1395@yahoo.com • Applications are due by email by 7 pm on Monday, September 29 but are encouraged to be submitted earlier • You will know by Friday, October 3rd if you received a scholarship
