THE IDEAL GREEN UPS Presented By BINEET KUMAR NAYAKEE200118245 Under the guidance of Mr. DEBASHISH JENA
WHY DO WE NEED IDEAL UPS? • UPS MEANS A POWER SUPPLY WHICH FEED TO THE DEVICES EVEN IN THE FAILURE OF MAINS SUPPLY. • COMPONENTS OF UPS ARE: RECTIFIER, BATTERY, INVERTER, FILTER, SWITCHES, AVR • NEW TECHNOLOGY UPS PROVIDES: ENERGY WASTE REDUCTION FROM 10% TO 3%. HARMONIC CURRENT REDUCTION FROM 30% TO < 3%. SUITABLE P0WER FACTOR.
DOUBLE-CONVERSION UPS • RECTIFIER CHARGES THE BATTERY AND THE INVERTER SUPPLIES AC POWER TO THE LOAD. • PRESENCE OF THIRD ORDER HARMONICS RESULTS IN NONLINEARITY OR DISTORTION. • POWER FACTOR IS VERY LOW WHICH INDICATES POWER LOSSES DURING DOUBLE CONVERSION.
SINGLE-CONVERSION UPS • A FOUR QUADRANT INVERTER IS USED • MAJORITY OF POWER IS TRANSFORMED TO THE LOAD VIA CHOKE. • MAIN SWITCH IS USED TO PROTECT AGAINST THE FEEDBACK CURRENT. • LESS ENERGY LOSSES DUE TO SINGLE CONVERSION OF POWER. • BUT POWER FACTOR IS NOT HIGH.
DELTA-CONVERSION UPS • INVERTER 1 IS RATED AT 20% OF THE OUTPUT POWER AND INVERTER 2 IS FULLY RATED. • INVERTER 1, CALLED DELTA INVERTER IS USED TO CONTROL THE INPUT POWER FACTOR AND CHARGING OF BATTERY. • INVERTER 2 KEEPS THE VOLTAGE TO THE LOAD STABLE.
CONCLUSION • IT WAS OBSERVED THAT DELTA-CONVERSION UPS CAME CLOSE TO IDEAL UPS; BECAUSE OF IT’S MINIMUM ENERGY WASTE AND NO MAINS DISTORTION. • TRADITIONAL DOUBLE-CONVERSION UPS CAN NEVER BE ABLE TO MATCH THE EFFICIENCY OF A DELTA-CONVERSION UPS EVEN ADDING HARDWARE.
