Calculation Services CS is a boutique financial calculation services company set up to provide the finance industry with an alternative solution to in-house calculations, data cleaning & conversion, formatting and graphics which can often be more hassle than the related business is worth. An example of what CS does might be where a business finds itself in a position where it must hire extra resources to aggregate portfolio data and perform daily tests on the results. Not only can such calculations be mundane, they can often take up considerable time and money. The people at CS have a broad range of experience both in the financial and IT sector and can perform any calculations or data processing for your company. Anything from data conversion between various formats (i.e. PDF to Word) to full blown portfolio reporting and aggregation testing can be done on your behalf and electronically delivered to you in several ways, including secure email and FTP on a ad hoc, daily, weekly or monthly basis.   3. Calculation Services • Examples of service • Monitoring Agent • Bank X spends USD $80,000 p.a. to monitor the risk of a credit line they extended to their corporate client, Bank Y. This is done by calculating the market value of the equities which Bank Y pledged to Bank X as security on the credit line. If the ratio between the credit line and the value of pledged equities is too high, then more equities must be pledged, and if it is too low then Bank Y can regain control of some of their equities. Market valuation and trigger limits must be reported before 7am each business day. • To perform this Monitoring Agent role, Bank X must do the following: • Employ someone with credit model knowledge, Bloomberg knowledge and Reuters knowledge; • Pay license fees to Bloomberg and Reuters to get the market values of Bank Y’s pledged equities on a daily basis; • Use approx. 1 hour each day to perform the market value requests, update the excel model with new prices, check that the ratio limits have not been triggered and inform interested parties of such daily results • As an alternative, Bank X can ask Calculation Services to do this for them at a fraction of their current cost. Calculation Services can deliver a daily report on Bank Y’s portfolio to Bank X via FTP or secure mail. • Graphics • Each month Mr Busy downloads a 200 page scanned PDF document containing low level data on the Russian economy. He has been asked to convert this into charts and graphs for a monthly presentation within his company. • Instead of hiring and training a temp, Mr Busy can have Calculation Services do this for him, saving him time and money. He can now send his monthly data file to a secure Calculation Services server, which is then picked up, converted into Excel using custom OCR technology, then turned into professional graphs and placed into a PPT file before being emailed back to Mr Busy the next day. This has saved him considerable time, allowing him to focus on more critical operations of his business.

Calculation Services Examples of service cont’d… Large File Data Formatting & Summarisation Bank B has won a new Paying Agent deal where they receive a quarterly CSV file containing up to 12 million credit card transactions. Their current systems are not built to handle this amount of data. Due to recent headcount reduction, no staff have enough IT knowledge to summarise or aggregate this data into a meaningful report. Bank B elects to pass the very large file through to Calculation Services who format and aggregate the data by date, and provide statistics on delinquencies and repayments before emailing it back to Bank B in a much more readable and compact format. Screen Scraping An Operations Department in Bank X was required to decommission their Mainframe billing system and begin using a more modern, audit compliant program. Before this could be done, they had to move all their transactional data from the mainframe onto Excel. A team of five staff were asked to work late and manually enter each transaction into Excel, one screen at a time. After working for one night, the employees were not only very overworked but also had only entered about 0.3 percent of the total transactions. A feasible solution had to be found. Calculation Services has developed a number of “screen scraping” tools which they can run against your Mainframe system to rapidly convert such data into a more accessible format such as MS Excel, Word or Access. Software Development A line manager wants to more accurately monitor work load among his teams and present capacity charts to upper management in order to request an extra head count. He was unable to find a good, simple system which could fit well with his business.
