Context Reducing health inequalities by improving access to healthcare services A common issue for European countries Important health disparities exist: - between European countries - between sub regional levels in the same country
Context To reduce health inequalities: a priority of the European Commission • Health Inequalities exist in all E.U. countries despite: • - increase in Health Expenditure • - multiple Health Reforms
Context Health inequalities and primary care: a priority of ‘ENRICH’ To consider a differentapproachto the analysis of people’shealth To reduceinequaltiesparticularlyat a subregionallevel
Objective of the project • To offerappropriate solutions for E.U. regions to reducehealthinequalities Hypothesis • Improved access to healthcare will reduce health inequalities To achievethis objective, wewant to develop an Europeanprojectto submit to the European Commission in May 2008
Method • Review of literature • Survey in different countries of E.U. on their practices to reduce inequalities at regional level • Selection and analysis of innovative interventions • Proposal of methods which could be adopted by various regions • Evaluation • Dissemination of information
Organisation The workwillbedividedinto six work packagesThe first three are mandatory Coordination work package:must ensure overall coordination, participate in other work packages, responsible for administrative aspects of the project Dissemination work package:must disseminate information to participants in the project and externally, during and at the end of the work Evaluation work package: must develop the method of evaluation and implement it
Organisation The workwillbedividedinto six work packagesThe remainingwork packages: Bibliography and exchanges work package:literature review and production of the newsletter Survey work package :develop a questionnaire, organise survey in the countries and regions, analyse responses Selection of best practice:select innovative or impressive activities and produce recommendations and proposals
