Get Prepared! • Shortly after our 80th Charter Anniversary, the club established an • ambitious, long-term GOAL: ”85 Strong on our 85th!” • …together with realistic, short-term goals. • Conceive it! • Believe it! How to build belief?? • Achieve it!Plan the Work… • Work the Plan with Consistence & Persistence From 6 to 60
Get Prepared! • 2006-07 Lion year…building belief that we could do it…. • Training: • On-line resources, MD4 Convention, District Convention, Cabinet Meetings • USA/Canada Leadership Forums • Attended several membership workshops, obtains lots of information • 3-day New Club Formation Workshop • This was the breakthrough! By cold-call canvassing we learned that many people are interested in being Lions! They are just waiting to be ASKED!! This is SIMPLE….but not EASY! • Assistance: • PDG/Guiding Lions from our district • Dr Carl Burson, PCC John Barnett From 6 to 60
Get Prepared! • 2006-07 Lion year…building belief that we could do it…. • The club discussed Assumptions of Change: • If we do not grow, our club will soon be dead • “New members” will result in “Change” • Not all new members will be active • Old members may “drop out” • Things may get “worse” before they get “better” • Getting new members may be difficult, but integrating retaining new members may be even more difficult. • New members need experienced Lions to serve as mentors From 6 to 60
