  1. Easy Tips for Rash-Free Periods The bloating is making you uncomfortable, your back is hurting, and your cramps are the worst, most girls are in dire straits during the initial period days. And on top of that, you develop period rashes. Skin irritation, redness and inflammation around the genitals and inner thighs…. Ouch! Why do women have to go through it? The dampness in the vaginal area during periods and the continuous chafing of skin against the sanitary pads can cause rashes. Yes, periods can be troublesome and period rashes is altogether a new low. If you have ever experienced a period rash you will know what we are talking about. We want to avoid period rashes at all costs, and it isn’t that tough. Just a few simple steps will help you keep period rashes at bay. 1. Change your menstrual pads often to keep yourself fresh and avoid dampness. Even the most comfy sanitary pads should be changed every four hours or early when the flow is heavy. 2. Choose women pads which do not irritate the skin. Especially if you have sensitive skin, it is even more important to pick sanitary napkin and pantiliners that are gentle on your sensitive skin. Immediately switch to another brand if your sanitary pad causes itchiness. Opt for pads made from cotton or try using tampons. 3. If you have dry skin try applying little coconut oil on the inner thighs to prevent rashes due by abrasion of skin with the sanitary napkin. It is perfectly fine to use coconut oil around the genitals and thighs. However, not apply any oil or ointment inside the vulva without consulting your gynecologist. 2. 4. Keeping your vagina clean is even more essential during your period days. Simply clean with water and pat dry with a fresh towel or toilet paper. Do not use soap as it affects normal pH levels, resulting in irritation. Also, do not use wet wipes to clean your private parts. 5. Do not use scented sanitary pads. The chemicals in these sanitary pads can cause irritation and rashes. 6. Wear cotton underwear especially during your period days. Completely avoid synthetic fabric as it blows air flow. 7. Do not wear tight clothes like jeans during your menstrual days. Tight fitted clothes only increase friction and heat down there, causing discomfort and rashes. Switch to loose cotton clothes, which will help air to circulate freely and keep the area dry. 8. During nights wear loose nightwear. It’s better to go for night dress/gown and avoid wearing pyjamas/shorts. This will keep the region airy and comfortable. 9. During hot summer days you can use a talcum powder on inner thighs to avoid sweating and keep the moisture in check, but do not apply it on the vagina.
