Every year thousands of people are killed and injured nationwide when driving for work or leisure. The majority of these road casualties are due to the behaviour of road users and these could perhaps have been avoided if those involved had simply:

  1. Every year thousands of people are killed and injured nationwide when driving for work or leisure. The majority of these road casualties are due to the behaviour of road users and thesecould perhaps have been avoided if those involved had simply: 1. Been more cautious and not taken risks. 2. Been in a fit condition to drive and driven for the conditions. 3. Stayed attentive and were not distracted. 4. Sought further, or had refreshed their driving skills and knowledge.

  2. People of all ages can becomeroad casualties. It does not just happen to others! –distractions such as texting whilst driving can be fatal.

  3. Help keep yourself andyour lovedones safe when driving by registering yourself, or them on one of the education and training initiatives provided by the Cumbria Road Safety Partnership. Please refer to the CRSPwebsite for more information.

  4. Provided for Young Drivers Fact -Young people are the drivers of the future and are often casualties at an early age due to their lack of experience, skill, maturity, knowledge or simply a poor attitude to driving.Passing the driving testis just the first stage inlearning to drive. We provide subsidised Pass Plus +training for youngpeople.

  5. If you are a parent, could we perhaps suggest that you make attendance of the Pass Plus + course a condition of letting them use your car or helping with their insurance?

Provided for Older Drivers Fact - Older drivers are often involvedin collisions due to the slowing oftheir reflexes, the natural reductionin their senses and when they areinvolved in collisions they are lessable to withstand trauma. We provide Drive Safer For Longer for those who are older than 65, this refreshes current driving skills and knowledge and gives friendly advice.

  7. Provided for Motorcyclists Fact - Passing the driving test does not provide all the knowledge, skills and experience needed to stay safe on the roads, this is especially the case for motorcyclists who are vulnerable due to being on two wheels. We provide Bike Safe on a first come first served basis. .

  8. For Cumbria in 2013 There were 27 fatalities,212 seriously injured and 1437slightly injured. - if you were involved in a road traffic accident…. How long might it take for the emergency services to reach you in some parts of the large rural County that is Cumbria? Treatment must be provided within the first “Golden Hour” of being injured - after that the chance of survival following serious injury drops dramatically. The Great North Air Ambulance does not want to see YOU!
