  1. Sukhad Yatra App - A Commuter-Centric Mobile Application With the rise in the mobile usage, India is witnessing a surge in mobile applications. Many organisations are turning this opportunity to reach their audience using mobile Apps. The Government of India has been coming with numerous initiatives under its mobile governance plan. And, it also directed various government departments and organisations to come up with e- governance solutions. Accordingly, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has developed a commuter-centric mobile application named ‘Sukhad Yatra’. Sukhad Yatra, which means a ‘Happy Journey’, is designed by the NHAI along with its technological partners. This App is developed on the backdrop of rising complaints from highways’ commuters. Through this App, commuters can fetch information related to highways and amenities surrounding Highways. This App works effectively with GPS. Here are some of the interesting features of this App: Know Your Highway To avoid confusion related to Highways, this feature helps commuters to find out information on which highway they are travelling. Nearby Toll Plaza and Toll Plaza enroute Normally, one can find basic amenities around Toll Plazas. That’s the reason why commuters wait to arrive at Toll Plazas to meet their basic needs. With this app, commuters no longer need to wait for Toll Plazas. Users can find the Nearby Toll Plaza as well the upcoming Toll Plazas and plan their journeys accordingly. Buy FASTag This App provides an online platform for users to purchase FASTags. They are unique Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and are to be linked with bank accounts and wallets. Commuters can purchase FASTags from this App. FASTags should be fixed to the vehicles’ windscreens to enable the RFID readers at Toll Plazas to detect the vehicle and deduct the Toll without human intervention. Report an issue As mentioned earlier, Commuters can raise their complaints to the authorities and also submit visual evidence to substantiate their claims.   2. Using this feature, commuters can find nearby hotels, refreshments, and other amenities. The NHAI is developing Highway Nests, Highway Villages under Wayside Amenities project. So, with this feature of the App, one can find Nearby Highway Nests and Highway Villages. Based on the feedback from commuters, the NHAI, in the coming days, may come up with advanced versions to provide convenience to App users i.e., commuters. #SukhadYatra #FASTag
