  2. What is Dragobetele…. Dragobetele is a holiday rooted ancient Slavic rite celebrated in some places in Romania 24 (Glovo-Obretania) or on February 28, l, 3 and March 25. The celebration of Valentine's Day is considered the equivalent of Valentine's Day celebration or Valentine's Day, feast of love.

  3. The etymology of the word has been debat by many ethnologistsand philologists proposing  various explanations for its origin. Dragobetele is a celebration with a relatively new tradition, with a length of around 170 – 180 yearsafter  entering  Romanian territoryand kept them mostly in southwestern Romania.

  4. It is believed that, on DRAGOBETE, migratory birds gather in flocks, chirp, choose their partner and begin to build their nests. • In some villages of Romania, the earth be removed, the DRAGOBETE, hellebore roots that people use them later as a cure for healing certain ailments. Traditions…

On the occasion of DRAGOBETE,  • elders pay special careof yard animals , and birds.  • The elders believed that on this day birds choosetheir life partner and I'll move in building nests. •   At the end of winter and beginning of spring, the birds in the sky nuntirea DRAGOBETE  officiate.  • Anim sacrifice is forbidden on this day.

  6. In olden times it was customary for young unmarried girls to raise, the DRAGOBETE snow remaining in places, snow known as "snow fairy". Resulting melt water was considered as having magical powers in love spells and love, and beauty rituals. It was thought that this snow was born from fairies smile.
