How to ride a HorseIn Five Steps By Suzanne Randolph
Step One • Get horse from stall or pasture with appropriately fitted halter and lead rope. • Tie horse to a safe solid place with an appropriate horse knot • Brush horse with the curry comb and bristle brush and with the help of an adult pick horses four hooves.
Step Two • Get a saddle pad and place it in a forward direction in the center of the horses back. • Get saddle and double check that your saddle pad is still straight. • Place saddle on the back of the horse. Buckle the girth tight so the saddle will stay on.
Step Three • Get bridle and place the reigns around the neck of the horse. • Carefully take off bridle and place the bit so the horse can easily put it in their mouth. • Place hands above ears and out the headpiece over them. • Buckle all the buckles loosely so the horse is comfortable, but tight enough the bridle stays in position.
Step Four • Make sure your hard hat is nice and tight and boots have a heel so your foot does not go through the stirrup all of the way. • Remember that these are very big animals and can get scared easily so be very cautious when riding. • Get on horse with a step stool on the left side. Hold reigns in your left hand and hold saddle with your right. Place your left foot in stirrup and step up.
Step 5 • When you mount the horse put the other foot in the other sturrip and place reigns even in both hands. • Make sure you have tight reins in case of an emengency. • Kick your feet gently on both sides to go.
