Things to remember when interviewing for the job of a lifetime • Know your stuff! • Get some information about the organization. How were they founded, are they growing, what are their plans…… • Know what the core values of the organization are • Have an idea what the position involves and ask what other “duties” are required
How do I look and sound ? • You only have one chance to make a first impression! Look your best. • Be aware of body language (non-verbal communication) • Be aware of language (verbal communication) • Make sure that your volume is appropriate.
How will you sell yourself? • How are you convincing the employer that you are the one for the job? • Are you communicating how your skills are translating into the job? • Have you shared your experience with jobs that share responsibilities with the one that you are seeking?
Etiquette • Wait to be seated until your hirer either seats themselves or they offer you a seat. • Shake hands (or if custom allows something else, observe the protocol) Research this first! • Listen for the close of the interview in the interest of respecting the time given to you.
