  1. Who Is Kayastha Chitragupta? Kayastha Chitragupta is a Hindu deity who is believed to be the divine accountant and record keeper of the deeds of all humans. He is also known as the "God of Justice" and is considered to be one of the 12 Aditya’s (sons of the Hindu god, Surya). In this article, we will explore the origins and significance of Kayastha Chitragupta in Hindu mythology. Origins According to Hindu mythology, Kayastha Chitragupta was created by Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe. It is said that when Brahma was creating the universe, he realized that there was no one to keep track of the deeds of humans. He then created Chitragupta from his body and gave him the task of recording the actions of all humans on Earth.   2. Significance Kayastha Chitragupta is highly revered in Hinduism as he is believed to be the one who keeps track of all the good and bad deeds of humans. It is believed that after a person dies, their soul is taken to Chitragupta who then reads out their deeds from his book. Based on these deeds, he decides the person's fate in the afterlife. This belief serves as a moral compass for Hindus, encouraging them to lead a righteous life. Worship Kayastha Chitragupta is primarily worshipped by the Kayastha community, who are believed to be the descendants of Chitragupta. They celebrate his birthday, known as Chitragupta Puja, on the first day of the Hindu month of Kartik. On this day, they offer prayers and perform rituals to honor Chitragupta and seek his blessings for prosperity and success. Legacy The Kayastha community, who are believed to be the descendants of Chitragupta, have played a significant role in Indian history. They were traditionally known as scribes and were responsible for maintaining records and documents for the ruling dynasties. They were also known for their administrative skills and were often employed as ministers and advisors to the kings.
