Mission Statement • Provide effective professional preparation and development programs that are career oriented, integrate technology, support diversity and connect with the real world through learner active instructional strategies. • Develop reflective practitioners with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to apply relevant theory into practice and to expand the knowledge base that informs the field.
Accreditation • The School of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). • NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel.

Internship • The internship is an experience in professional practice • It is collaboration between the program faculty, district cooperating administrators, and the intern • Internship placement requires an application process • A seminar accompanies the internship
NYSED says… • Students in registered collegiate programs leading to certification as a, School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL) or School District Business Leader (SDBL), are required to complete a 15-week full-time internship working as an education leader. • However, institutions are able to offer equivalent alternatives to the full-time internship, such as summer school, after-hour assignments, or assignments completed during part of the school day, when these assignments are comparable to the 15-week full-time internship.
Admission Requirements • Permanent or Professional NYS Teaching Certificate • Three years teaching experience • Master’s degree and 3.0 GPA • Two letters of Reference – 1 from building principal, one from district superintendent, or other appropriate supervisor • Interview with program faculty • Satisfactory writing sample • Demonstrable technology competence
