  3. The Initial Idea • Show a scrambled image • Reveal a little more with each wrong guess. • Do you know who this is?

  6. Platform • Joomla! 2.5 + 3 custom modules + 1 custom component + 1 command line interface + 1 purchased theme ($50) + a few Joomla Extensions

  7. Contest Teaser Module • Displays small version of a contest image and the most recent guess.

  8. Contest Image Module • Displays large version of contest image and % showing.

  9. Recent Guesses Module • Displays last few guesses

  10. Guess the Image Component • Takes the guess and does all the image and guess processing work

  11. A Little Bit of AJAX • Refresh every 30 seconds so you can see updates as others guess. CORE HACK/MOD. • Needs some work!

  13. First Game • Slowly reveal the image with each wrong guess. • Kind of boring • Just keep pumping “junk” guesses to make it reveal faster. • Limit guesses?

  14. Second Game • Have the image automatically reveal • It’s Different • Complications on coding. • Joomla CLI + cron job to automatically generate the revealing images on server side • AJAX to keep refreshing the image on client side

  15. Gameification • Need to add coins/badges • Each guess • Each correct guess • Invite a friend • Others?? • Prizes/Awards • Sponsors products • Groupon like deals

  16. Other Game Ideas • Beat the clock • Single or multi player • SongPop like game • Multiple choice head-to-head • Upload your own image • Invite your friends/family

  17. May Need Browser Plug-in? • Fast image reveal on client side. • Encrypt the image to prevent cheating. • MOBILE APP?

  19. Social Strategy • Facebook – get users to share, comment, Like • Twitter – get people to tweet their winning guess and the image that it was guessed at. • Pinterest – get users to Pin game image results or pre guess image.

  20. Social Strategy Continued • Instagram – not exactly sure about this one at this time. • G+ - get users to share new games, current games, results to their circles • Others?? Ideas??

  21. Building Traffic • Initial contact with influencers on each medium. Work deals for promotion. • Some initial thoughts on getting images to go viral….

  22. Memes – One way to spread the word fast • Share, Tweet, +1 • Challenge: to find the best way to make the game images go viral.
