4. Standards and Formats • Classification Index? • Caselaws? • List of Short Titles? • Standard Aggregations?
5. Version control and revisions • Metadata owner is responsible for quality and validation of metadata • „is final“ tag marks the official status of a metadata • once the tag is checked, no modifications to the metadata can be effected by the metadata owner • Possibility to work on metadata without tagging „is final“ and therefore not accessible for public
6. Issues raised • How to make minor changes to a version without cancelling security blocking? • How to capture notes and future changes to a code, while preparing a revision, without changeing the current version? • Is a caselaw to be put as an annotation to a code or should the collection of caselaws form an artefact independently from the classification version? • Is an index entry to be put as an annotation to a code or should the list of index form an artefact independently from the classification version? • How should a classification variant be put in relation to the base classification version?
7. Lessons learned • SMS is flexible enough to address needs for maintaining a classification • Progressive implementation strategy allows stepwise updates of the system and tailormade solutions • International guidance in addressing raised conceptual issues is very helpful and facilitates harmonisation (common terminology, etc.).
