Cow Jumping • Rite of passage for men which they must do before they are allowed to marry. It has to be crossed four times. • Only castrated cattle can be used for the jumping. • Must be done naked. • Head is shaven. • Rubbed with sand and dung (manure).
Men • Wife beating is accepted • Men don’t marry until their mid-thirties • All the men have three names: a human, goat, and cow name • Can have 3-4 wives if he can afford the bride wealth he will have to pay.
Women • Marry around age 17 • Only marry one man • The same day the men jump the cows, his female relatives are whipped.
