Student Population We had 21 students in our Third Grade class, including: • 8 Special Education students (OHI, BD, LD, HI, Autistic, 504) • 6 TAG (Talented and Gifted) • 7 General Education • 2 of our students were considered medically fragile (Cystic Fibrosis and Diabetic) each requiring frequent monitoring throughout the day
Classroom Design • Physical set up • Cooperative learning groups • Access to materials (including computers) • Shared responsibility • Established routine for all students • Parental access to classroom • Organized chaos
Goals/Expectations • Special education students would participate in all general education activities, lessons, and learning experiences • All students would work cooperatively • All students were members of the class (not specified Ms. Weikel’s and Ms. Creagh’s) • Students would work together to identify and solve problems using a variety of strategies and methods • Teachers set and defined the tasks, including the method of assessments. Students had to apply problem solving and critical thinking to complete the tasks.

Science • Students switched for science, Special Ed. teacher travelled with students • Science teacher was responsible for knowing student goals and objectives and accommodations • Hands on experiments • Discovery Education • Flipcharts
Social Studies • Heroes • FDR Fireside Chats • Biography summaries • Flipcharts • Reading for information • Discovery Education • Smithsonianfor Education • Flip Camera • Role Play and Teach the class • Student created PowerPoints for Unit review
Inclusive Activities • Globe • Play • Mummy • Schoolwide Enrichment Model (Trashion Show, Greek Olympics, Food Tastings, Heroes Museum) • Parties, Field Trips, Assemblies • Guest speakers and Presentations • Science Lab
