AU Exemptionsfor Poly students • Applications for AU exemptions must be submitted in your first semester of enrolment in HSS • Noexemptionswill be given for the following courses: • Major Core • Major Elective • GER-CORE • You may apply for up to a maximum of 12 AUs exemptions and only for courses in the following categories: • a maximum of 6 AUs from GER-PEs (excluding Liberal Studies) • a maximum of 6 AUs from the GER-UEs
Which courses to take and when • The following slides are a guide for which courses to take each semester. • There is flexibility but special attention is needed for courses that are prerequisites for other courses.
Graduation Requirements* * For 2013 cohort and later
Graduation Project • In order to begin the Graduation Project (HS4099), students must have completed: • 95 AUs • All Major Cores • At least 7Major Electives for a grade • It is recommended that students do not take more than 3 other courses during the first semester of HS4099.

For students who go on Exchange • At least 69 AUs of Graded Courses must be completed in NTU. • Your Residential Period (Physical Presence) in NTU must be at least 3 years. • All Sociology Major Core Courses must be completed in NTU. • A maximum of 9 AUs of Major PEs will be transferred back to NTU. • Important note: these AUs will be pass-fail (non-graded). • A maximum of 6 course or 20 AUs will be transferred back to NTU (whichever is fewer).
Important points to note • Check your Degree Audit regularly • At least once a semester after your exam results are released. • Exercise the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) option for Unrestricted Electives carefully • A maximum of 4 S/U options are permitted. • If you are in doubt, please check with the Sociology undergraduate manager.
