CLIC PETS + booster Aperture, mm RF power, MW Distance, m Distance, m The full power will be generated by CLIC PETS from CTF3 drive beam if extra 430 MW will be used to “prime” it. This could be done using few special booster structures in parallel, so that each of them produces moderate peak power. It is advisable not to exceed the electric surface field level in booster structure compared to that in CLIC PETS. Assuming 90% power transfer efficiency, booster should produce 480 MW. Ongoing activity We have started the parametrical study for the CLIC PETS performance. The aim is to see, if it is possible to reduce the PETS aperture together with RF power reduction by factor of 2 (new layout 1 PETS x 2 HDS). The 16 mm diameter PETS producing 320 MW in 35 cm appeared to be quite acceptable from the beam stability point of view. There is a substantial reduction of the drive beam current – from 180 A to about 110 A (3 times of that in CTF3). The 16 mm aperture is a limit for the single mode operation, which allows for the very compact output coupler. The combining ring layout and number of turns around should be revise to keep the beam energy within acceptable level. We still continue study
