This workshop at CERN in June 2010 provides an overview of the EB+EE Low Voltage (LV) system, including control interfaces, monitoring, OPFC, and maintenance. The LV system connects with the HV system which uses CAEN custom modules. Findings on LV and HV system status, recent upgrades, and service information are also discussed.

EB + EE LV & HV Low Voltage Workshop, CMS Electronics Week CERN, 8 June 2010 W. Lustermann, ETH Zurich
LV System Overview (EB+EE) Control interface: - Maraton: CAN bus - OPFC: Monitoring in preparation 4(3) Trigger Tower 4 x 15 A (5V) 4(3) Super crystals 4(3) x 15 A (5V) 220 V 15 A (AC) 380 V 10 A (DC) OPFC Maraton MEM box 2A (8V) + 5A (6V)
HV system EB EB uses CAEN custom HV modules housed in SY1527 crates, providing up to 500V, 15 mA with about 20 mV of precision, using remote sensing over 120 m.
EE HV System • Status: • No problems/issues with the CAEN system • issues with the robustness of the controller – input card setup (power glitches ??) • solved temporarily • new cards controller + input cards to be installed in December 2010 ESS ramps down EE HV on an interlock of the LV system • Service / Spares • repairs: RAL • expert on call (permanently at CERN) • spares: more than 50% for all items
