  1. Welcome back! • Warm-Up… • Write an equation of a line of fit. Estimate y when x = 15 and explain its meaning. • Quickwrite… • What time do you USUALLY go to bed and wake up? Why? • Ex: “I think I usually go to bed around __________ and wake up around __________ because__________________________.”

  2. Compare & explain… • starting with Student #2 (1 min) • Write an equation of a line of fit. Estimate y when x = 15 and explain its meaning.

  3. Homework review • How can we estimate the height of a person whose femur is 35 centimeters long?

  4. Round robin… • starting with the student who went to bed the latest last night (1 min) • What time do you USUALLY go to bed and wake up? Why? • Ex: “I think I usually go to bed around __________ and wake up around __________ because__________________________.”

  5. Correlation project Does sleep affect the growth of our body?

  6. In your group, you will… • Collect data from 10 different students in different groups • Record each person’s hours of sleep they usually get AND measure the length (cm) of ONE of the following: • Forearm • Hand • Finger (but must be the same finger)

  7. After collecting the data… • Make a scatter plot and find the line of fit • Using the equation of the line of fit, estimate the length of your forearm/hand/finger when a person gets 10 hours of sleep • Write a conclusion to the research question: Does sleep affect the growth of our body? • Questions?

  8. Presentation Format • Poster • Extra Credit Options (+5 pts): • Digital presentation • Skit • Story • Song • Different idea you have

  9. You must prepare… • All of the work on paper first: 9/5 (5 pts) • Completion (5 pts) • A presentation format of choice: (10 pts) • Clarity (3 pts) • Correctness (3 pts) • Collaboration (2 pts) • Creativity (2 pts) • A presentation for the class: 9/9 (5 pts) • Clarity (2 pts) • Completion (2 pts) • Collaboration (1 pt) • Total 20 pts
