  1. Symptoms and Diagnosis of Kidney Cancer

  2. In adherence with all cancers, early diagnosis and treatment of kidney cancer can certainly improve the chance for survival. Patients with more than 45 years of age are mostly diagnosed with kidney cancer. Therefore it is important for people to rush to a physician if they find any symptoms for kidney cancer.

  3. Signs and Symptoms of Kidney Cancer: • Blood in the urine( might be pink, red or cola colored) • Pain on one side of the body between the upper abdomen and back • Loss of appetite and body weight • Intermittent Fever • Fatigue and a feeling of poor health

  4. Diagnostic Procedures: On approaching for medical checkup, the doctor may require complete physical examination along with a complete medical history. If the doctor finds any suggestions for kidney cancer he/she may suggest diagnostic procedures such as; • Laboratory Tests • Imaging Tests • Biopsy

  5. Laboratory tests: Laboratory tests are used to determine whether the person is actually affected with kidney problems. • Urinalysis- Urine examination • Complete blood count(CBC)- Determining the amount of red blood cells • Blood Chemistry Tests- Level of chemicals in the blood

  6. Imaging Tests: These tests can be useful to diagnose the exact area of cancer or to determine whether cancer has started to spread and other reasons. The various tests available are. • Computed Tomography- CT scan • Magnetic Resonance Imaging- MRI scan • Ultrasound Scan • Positron Emission Tomography- PET scan • Intravenous Pyelogram – Type of urinary X-ray • Angiography • Chest X-ray • Bone Scan

  7. Biopsy Biopsy is to take small samples from kidney cells for microscopic examination. There are two types of biopsies namely;. • Fine Needle Aspiration • Needle Core biopsy
