The Way Forward • Follow latest IPv6 activities around the world • Attend and join IPv6 related events • Join IPv6 Working group, forum ,AP-IPv6 Task Force etc • Integrate IPv6 with other .my DOMAIN REGISTRY projects & facilities (DNSSEC, ANYCAST, ENUM, webserver, mail, database and whois servers) • Create more awareness programs • Conduct a series of IPv6 technology workshops / seminars / training /exhibitions
The Way Forward (Cont ..) • Increase registration of .my domain with IPv6 name servers • Participate in Malaysia IPv6 Working Group to contribute however we can • Work closely with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Numbering Planning Department– arrange meetings between ISPs and Hosting Providers to address IPv6 adoption issues
Conclusion • Until today, only 0.228% .my domain names have IPv6 out of 92,155 .my domain names registered. • .my DOMAIN REGISTRY is seriously putting efforts on awareness programs for public to increase the number of domain names with IPv6 DNS • When IPv4 addresses run out, ISPs will only distribute IPv6 addresses to their new customers. Then IPv6 enabled websites will be preferred. Therefore, the demand for IPv6 webhosting will increase. 14
