  3. Definitions • Mood: The mood is the feeling the reader (you!) gets from reading the text. • Tone: The author’s attitude toward the subject or audience (what voice do you imagine the author reading/talking?)

  4. Mood Can Be Positive or Negative • Hopeful • Joyful • Cheerful • Joyous • Playful • Peaceful • Gloomy • Violent • Tense • Suspicious • Heartbroken • Painful Do Now: With your partner, develop 2 more positive words, 2 negative words, and 2 neutral words
