  5. The Catcher in the Rye • For Monday! Read through Chapter 20 (page 157). • Reading Journal • One entry per day ( 7 total) • Consider: • Questions you may have. • Interesting plot developments. • Interpretation of characterization. • Interpretation of author’s style. • Quotation analysis.

  6. Holden’s Quotables 1 • “People always think something’s all true” (1.9). • “People never notice anything” (1.9). • “I’d never yell ‘Good luck!’ at anybody. It sounds terrible, when you think about it” (2.16). • “I’m quite illiterate, but I read a lot” (3.18). • “What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it” (3.18).
