As a part of that focus, the World Bank’s East Asia and Pacific Region’s Human Development Department has conducted recent comprehensive skills studies in Mongolia, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia. The primary objective of these studies was to assess the skills which are in demand, identify key skill gaps, and assess how the education and training system can respond effectively to labor market and skills needs. • This consultation session will: • discuss the skill study for Indonesia, which includes findings from a survey of over 500 firms on skills demanded by employers and employees and critical skill gaps, as well as a comprehensive analysis of the education and training system • seek feedback on the findings and policy recommendations, and • set the stage for further dissemination and dialogue on Indonesia skills policies • The target audience for this consultation is staff of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor, and Ministry of Planning, academics, donors, and private sector representatives interested in skills, education and labor market issues. • Session Agenda • In a two hour interactive and locally facilitated session, the main author of the World Bank Indonesia Skills Study will discuss the findings with particular emphasis on the results of the firm survey and implications for the education and training system. The author will also gain participant input on the key findings and policy recommendations, and seek recommendations on a strategy for wider dissemination and application of the study findings.
