  2. Goal To start a clone of ME 310 in Wolfsburg with the intention that VW AutoUni will be able to teach this course independently of Stanford University in the future.

  3. Agenda • Expected Students in Wolfsburg • Expected Faculty in Wolfsburg • Collaboration with Stanford University & University of St. Gallen • Timeline for Year 1: Academic Year 2005-2006 • My role

  4. Expected Students • In Wolfsburg: 6 – 8 Students at the Master’s Level with backgrounds a variety of backgrounds. • Students form 2 teams working on different projects to facilitate learning in parallel

  5. Expected Faculty in Wolfsburg • Instructors who have visited Stanford University and experienced ME 310 and its coaching workshop. (Potentially Klaus, Bill Cockayne, ???) • Preferred Scenario: One Instructor & one near-peer (Georg?) as TTeam, One Technical Consultant (Experienced Engineer), One Business Consultant (Experienced Manager), Coaches (Stanford Visitors)

  6. Collaboration with Stanford University & University of St. Gallen • Teams Collaborate with Student Teams at Stanford University (& maybe HSG, Switzerland) • Calendar: Stanford University Calendar drives everything. • Infrastructure: Use of ME 310’s Docushare, Wiki etc. • Assignments: Same for all Teams • Travel: Teams visit each other

  7. Timeline for Year 1: Academic Year 2005-2006 • Course Planning over Summer & early Fall 2005 • Start Course in October (or September if Paper Bike included) • Finish with EXPE on June 1 • Team Travel: December & April

  8. My Role • Visit Wolfsburg this summer to help instructors determine expectations • Write Project Proposals with VW • Help Start-up Course potentially • Write Assignments • Help Grading first set of reports • Research on Design Habits by Observation at all sites of the project
