Yard Games/ GemauBuarth Goleuadau traffic/ Trafic lights Explain to the children – coch/red – means they have to stop oren/orange- means the children need to skip gwyrdd/green- means the children need to run Stop/stopiwch Sgipio/ skip Rhedeg/run Children run around within a small area and the teacher calls out one of the three colours. The children must listen carefully and must change the way they are traveling when one of the colours is called out. Maximum time of game 1 minute, children rest and play again

The children shout to the fox Beth yw’ramser Mr Blaidd?/ What’s the time Mr Fox? The fox replies with an answer – 1 o’rgloch/ 1 o clock, 2 o’rgloch/ 2 o clock, 3 o’rgloch/3 o clock. If the fox calls out 1 o’rgloch/1 o clock the children take one step forward. This is repeated several times – if the fox calls out AmserCinio/Lunch time the fox can chase the children, if he catches a child that child is the fox and the game starts again.

As the children walk round in a circle they sing Mae’rffermwreisiaugwraig, Mae’rffermwreisiaugrwaig, Hey ho di hey di ho Mae’rffermwreisiaugwraig. When the song is finished the children stop and the farmer chooses a wife. Once the wife is in the middle of the circle the children start walking and sing again. This time the wife wants a baby, so they sing:- Mae’rgwraigeisiaubabi, Mae’rgwraigeisiaubabi, Hey ho di hey di ho Mae’rgrwaigeisiaubabi.

When the song is finished the children stop and the baby chooses a nurse. Once the nurse is in the middle of the circle the children start walking and sing again. This time the nurse wants a dog, so they sing:- Mae’rnyrseisiau ci, Mae’rnyrseisiau ci, Hey ho di hey di ho Mae’rnyrseisiau ci.
