How is Softball related to Biology? • While playing softball, you use all of your body systems. You have to have a lot of energy, which is produced by the mitochondria.
Skeletal System • The skeletal system supports the body, protects internal organs, and also allows movement. • When playing softball your skeletal system allows you to move your arms and legs so you can throw, catch, and hit the ball.
Circulatory System The circulatory system brings oxygen, nutrients and hormones to cells. It fights infection and also regulates body temperature. When playing softball your body needs to regulate its body temperature so you don’t get too hot or too cold. You need oxygen to breathe.
Muscular system The muscular system works the skeletal system to produce voluntary movement. It also helps circulate blood, and move food through the digestive system. While playing softball you use your muscles to throw, hit and catch.
Integumentary (Sweat) It serves as a barrier against infection and injury, it also helps regulate body temperature and provides protection against ultraviolet radiation from sun. While playing softball you will be playing in hot temperatures. When your body gets hot it produces sweat to cool off your body.
