    1. Sulfonyl urea 2nd time Very large and very important family!!! First family developed with use rates in the fractions of an ounce/acre. Early SUs were for broadleaf weed control, now there are those for grass control!!! At first, the SUs could only be used on small grains (mostly wheat), now they can be used on cotton, soybeans, peanuts, corn, sorghum, rice, alfalfa, and others MOA is single site inhibits the ALS/AHAS enzyme systems. Valine, leucine, & isoleucine. Acetolactate synthase and acetohydroxyacid synthase . Many weeds have developed resistance 1 MOA

Solubility is also lower at lower pHs There are use restrictions in high pH soils!!! Half-life in soil varies from 5 days to 140 days!

    3. Even More Sulfonyl urea 2nd time Many crop rotational restrictions years!! Read the label before use if crop rotation is wanted With all of the pre-mixes, reading the label is very important. Many of these products are sold by the same company under multiple trade names to fit multiple markets obviously priced differently! Do NOT use SUs with a systemic organophosphate insecticide/nematicide or severe crop injury will occur (mostly corn)

    5. Sulfosulfuron Maverick & Outrider Maverick PRE and POST use in CO, KS, NE, OK, TX, & WY Cheat control!!! Is also active on some broadleaf weed. DO NOT alter spray solution with surfactants or fertilizer such that the pH is 5 or below! Outrider Roadsides!!!!

    6. Imidazolinone EXACTLY the same MOA as SUs!!!!! There is cross resistance with SUs Controls both grasses and broadleaf weeds Many rotational restrictions Many of the same symptoms as SUs All have soil activity, some also have POST activity IR Corn, non GMO crop Used on small grains, peanuts, soybeans, alfalfa, turf, sunflower. NOT sorghum or cotton. MANY DO NOTS ON LABELS.
