  1. ACHIEVE – CLINTON COUNTY Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coaltion

Overview of Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition A collaboration among business, schools, healthcare providers and social service organizations that have come together to address issues affecting the health and quality of life of Clinton County. Received the ACHIEVE grant in January of this year – our mission with this grant is “To Make the Healthy Choice the easy Choice!” Our goal is to have the health choice factor in all decisions that community leaders and decision makers make for our community. That all policies have regard for “what can we add to this decision to improve the Health of our residents?”

  3. We created the TEAM and got going! • Hospital Administrator • County Health Officer • City Councilman • Chamber Director • Minority Health Director • Purdue Extension Dir. • Head Start Director • YMCA Director • St. Vincent Health

  4. We boarded a school bus to make observations about health issues in our parks, convenience stores and the sidewalk that our children walk to school on. Windshield Tour - Look at what we have! Insert picture from your community here

  5. Data Gathering • We took pictures • We looked around • We made notes

  6. New sidewalks with ramps and warning pads

  7. Dangerous sidewalks and missing sidewalks

  8. What can we do? ONE BITE AT A TIME!!!

  9. CHANGE is a Process

  10. Safe Routes to School We formed a Safe Routes to School Committee and applied for a Non-Infrastructure Grant to be awarded this October.

  11. Safe Routes To School Elementary schools will participate in International Walk to School Day – Oct 5

  12. We have newly mapped walkways!

  13. Complete Streets A community event was held to share information about Complete Streets. Kim Irwin, Health by Design was the presenter

  14. Healthy Food Access Looking for Healthy Food at a Convenience Store

  15. Healthy Food Access • WIC vouchers accepted at Farmers Market Celebrating “Going Local” September 10th with “Music at the Market”
