  1. Learning the PARTS OF A GUITAR LRC320 Spring 2013

  2. First things first • Before you learn to play the guitar it is important to understand the different parts of the instrument. http://www.squidoo.com/teach-yourself-guitar-how-to-identify-the-parts-of-a-guitar

  3. head • The headstock is the furthest part away from the body of the guitar. The head comes in many different forms, but they all have the same basic purpose which is to hold the pegs or machine heads. http://www.maximummusician.com/anatomy.htm

  4. Machine heads and tuning pegs • In order to tune your guitar, which will come later in lesson 1, you must tighten or loosen the guitar strings using the machine heads. There are usually three heads on each side of the head because there are six guitar strings to tune. We will be focusing on an acoustic guitar in these lessons, for an electric guitar is quite different. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_head

  5. FRETS • This is a bar that is located on the fret board of the neck. Frets divide the neck of the guitar into smaller areas. http://www.squidoo.com/teach-yourself-guitar-how-to-identify-the-parts-of-a-guitar

  6. BRIDGE • The bridge is where the strings are attached to the body. Most guitars have “fixed” bridges. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSqsE1CfrpqUe1eoGEcLIU9JUy_i-w11F-HqcSH5ZVuDoyXvP0J
