Contents • Literature review • Experimental procedures • Software packages used • Economical analysis • HAZOP study • Conclusion
Literature review • Pore throat and pore body • Capillary pressure • Relative permeability
Pore body and pore throat • A porous medium is a complex assembly of irregularly shaped mineral grains with pores. • This complicated structure can be idealized as a collection of relatively large chambers, the pore bodies, connected by narrower openings, the pore throats.
Pore body and pore throat • When fines are moving in the porous medium, they will often be deposited. • The identification of the pore body size is very important for the experiment and injection in real water flooding projects.
Capillary Pressure • The difference in pressure between two immiscible fluids across the interface between them. • Pc = Pnon-wetting – Pwetting
Relative permeability • It is the ratio of the effective permeability of a phase to the absolute permeability. • Where kri is the relative permeability, ki is the effective permeability and k is the absolute permeability.
Experimental Procedures • Preparing the core samples • Capillary pressure test • Relative permeability measurements
Experiment procedures • The samples are then flooded with oil until irreducible water saturation is reached.
Experiment procedures • Filter papers are used to make solutions of water containing solid particles with different sizes.
Experimental Procedures • Vacuum pump is used to perform the filtration process.
Experimental Procedures • The prepared water solutions are used to flood the oil filled samples.
Conclusion • Objectives achieved. • New skills learned • Recommendations
