Justification • National Commission for Science and Technology would be an apex body • Secretariat • Director General • absence has had an impact • How to proceed • realign the S&T Policy with MGDS
Goal • an updated S&T Policy
Objectives • identify gaps and align the S&T Policy with • new developments in S&T; • MGDS • new GOM policy format; • propose appropriate institutional arrangements for the implementation of the S&T Policy; and • propose amendments to the S&T Act of 2003
Implementation Plan • Hold preparatory meetings; • Establish steering and technical committees; • Identify and engage a technical experts (Consultants); • Conduct technical consultative workshops; • Submit to Cabinet for approval; • Finalise S&T Policy document; and • Launch the S&T Policy.
Budget • UNESCO - US$ 70,000 • GOM - US$ 30,000 GOM - • Personnel • office space and facilities • Transport and • communication service
Issues for discussion • Local consultants to be engaged • Technical expertise required from UNESCO • If UNESCO can fund (Extra resources) • When will resources be released from UNESCO?
