The basic premise of the AW2 program is to ensure that our severely wounded Soldiers and their family members are given the care, support and assistance they so rightly deserve for their selfless sacrifice and service to our nation. • AW2 Soldiers: • Soldiers who suffer from injuries or illness incurred after 10 September 2001 in support of the Global War On Terrorism • Received or are expected to receive a 30% rating for one or more injuries rated by the Physical Disability Evaluation system in categories such as: • Loss of Sight • Loss of Limb • Paralyzed • Permanent disfigurement • Traumatic Brain Injury • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder • Fatal disease and limited life expectancy

Events of Interest (cont.) Master Sergeant Luis Rodriguez “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Constructed a new home for the Rodriguez Family. Program was broadcast on 25 Sep 05 on ABC. MSG Rodriguez is an Army medic who was severely injured in Iraq Sergeant Manuel Mendoza Awarded a scholarship providing him with adapted housing, a handicapped-equipped van, educational benefits, and a job with SBC Communications. For a four-year period, Sergeant Mendoza will also receive a team of mentors to help him transition from military to civilian life – Aug 05
Wintergreen Adapted Skiing (W.A.S.) 2nd Annual Wounded Warriors Weekend (WWW2) January 27 - 29, 2006 LTC Dennis Walburn and SGT Andy Butterworth were two of over 20 Soldiers and Veterans that took part in an event sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project and W.A.S. at Wintergreen Resort, VA “It’s that feeling of doing something and going fast and feeling the wind in your face.”
