State Standard 7:3 - Apply principles of body mechanics and patient safety during transfers and positioning and in all areas of healthcare activities. 1. Students will turn in CNA crosswords. 2. TO: How do you adm, transfer, and d/c pts? 3. Students will complete Nursing Assistant Website Scavenger Hunt.

  3. Nursing Assistants The Facts • Aka – Nurse Aides, Nurse Techs • Work under supervision of a RN/LPN • 75 hrsof training for cert or registration • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) • Do have to complete CEUs • If not employed for 2 yrs, must redo training.

CNA Job Duties/Skills (15) • Know the laws of his/her state • Admitting, Transferring, Discharging Pts • Positioning, Turning, Moving Pts • Bedmaking • Administering Personal Hygiene • Measuring and Recording Intake and Output • Feeding a Pt • Assisting with a Bedpan/Urinal • Providing Catheter/Urinary Drainage Care • Providing Ostomy Care • Collecting Stool/Urine Specimens • Enemas/Rectal Txs • Applying Restraints • Administering Pre- and Post- Operative Care • Administering Oxygen • Giving Postmortem Care
