Objective Create a literacy rich environment in Spanish where children can learn at their own pace and choose works based on their own interest and abilities.

Barnes & Noble Bookfair Update Mandy Shaw & Leah Talmers
Barnes & Noble Update as of 11/14 • Huge success! Thanks to everyone who attended and purchased books for themselves and the school. • Total in-store sales for day of Bookfair = $9,511with 144 transactions which was a 16% increase over last year’s sales of $8,174. • You can still purchase books online through November 18th to add to our Bookfair totals using code #10571586. • If you buy something off your teacher’s wish list, email Leah Talmers so we can update the lists daily.

Current Teacher Appreciation • Teacher Appreciation Lunch • Held on Report Card Pick-up Day – 11/16 • Holiday Cookie Exchange: • Wednesday, December 21st • Need volunteer bakers and helpers • Bakers - bake at least 3 dozen cookies and drop off in room 112 by 9am • Helpers - set up, host, clean up (time slots from 8:30am-3pm) • Budget not to exceed $250 • To purchase tins - 70 tins @ $3.50/each • Light refreshments such as cider and hot chocolate

NEW Faculty & Staff Appreciation Program • Creating a Faculty & Staff Appreciation Committee • Need volunteers to organize monthly events • Time commitment: • One monthly meeting • Communication via email • Some ideas include: • A Starbucks morning • An event at Lululemon (chair massages, aromatherapy, cheese & wine) • Vosges chocolate tasting & champagne • Whole Foods cooking event • Gift bags (where we get local businesses to donate product) • We are going to try and leverage corporate relationships to get donations so our cost is minimal • Need people on this committee who have immense appreciation & enthusiasm for OM Faculty & Staff!

Sponsorship Update Two ways for businesses to be a Walkathon sponsor: • A one-time cash donation made prior to the Walkathon on May 4th, 2012 • An opportunity to “raise” money throughout the year in one of the following ways: • Give back $X for every service provided to a Mayer community member • Give back % for every service provided to a Mayer community member • Creation of other promotional opportunities exclusively for Mayer Magnet School

Sponsorship Ideas • Post-Walkathon Block Party: • Move the Walkathon after party from a local sponsor to Trebes Park • Includes Beer Garden, Food & Kids Entertainment • Sponsors set up tables to meet the Mayer community • Logistics and details to follow • Mayer Magnet Thank You Wall – some type of indoor and/or outdoor signage publicly recognizing our corporate sponsors • Shop Webster Event – help plan a community event with our local sponsors on Webster where a portion of the proceeds from the shopping day would be donated back to Mayer • Social Media – Enhance presence on facebook for both social and sponsor communication

Program Overview • Three Item Options: • FOM Sources Items • 100% of proceeds go to FOM • FOM Leverages Bidding for Good Items • 100,000+ Items in their online catalog • Their items can be added to our site (we control which items) • 70% of proceeds to FOM • Items on Consignment • FOM receives the delta between cost and final purchase price (usually 70+% markup) • Sample Items: • Sports Memorabilia • Vacation Getaways • Unique Travel Packages (Concerts, Sporting Events)

Steps to Implementation • Form an Auction Committee • Work on site set-up & communication plan to launch site in December 2011 • Help users with profile set up/login assistance • Choose items to go on Mayer site in addition to the Monthly Mayer Parking Spot Auction • Evaluate effectiveness of initial auction to determine future use, best practices and incorporating additional functionality

Healthy Cookbook Action Plan • Letter to families asking for favorite breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner ideas • Includes a sample of how people can submit recipes via email or by filling out back of form • Focus on healthy, quick, and yummy recipes • Planning to have a pre-order option (with deals) to encourage people to order • Targeting Cookbook sales to take place in Feb 2012 • Volunteers needed
