Name: Dave Thompson Positions: PRESIDENT Proposer:Connor “I’m a LandanBoi” Gorrard-Smith Seconder: Robert “Yorkshire Rudeboy” Holt Jon “The Mince” Cowie I would make a good PRESIDENT because… WHY ME? I have shown my propensity for hard work throughout the last year and a half of being an MSRC Rep. As many people will tell you, I regularly volunteer in MSRC, co-ordinating the Freshers’ Handbook, organising MUMS events, helping at PALS etc. I am not afraid of hard work and will promise to keep this up throughout next year, should I be voted in as President! However most importantly, I love being part of MSRC; I like looking after our year, and sharing our views with the Medical School. Because of this, you can be assured I will stay committed and involved throughout the year, giving my best for you all. POLICIES MSRC needs to go back to basics. I feel that representing you and your views is the most important thing we do and to achieve this, we need a more open MSRC which always represents the ever changing opinion of the student body. To do this, I propose to set up online discussion boards/blogs to be reviewed weekly by MSRC so we can make the changes YOU want, immediately. Bringing MSRC back to basics campaign will look after you through the transition to the new curriculum 2010 by quickly solving any teething problems which arise. I want a responsive MSRC which can react to these problems quickly. MSRC will have some open meetings, in order to allow peoples voices to be heard. MSRC will keep you informed of what we do, the success of events, what our current initiatives are etc. through newsletters, emails and the open meetings. MSRC will improve the tutor system. MSRC will keep your views key: e.g. if you want us, we will put pressure on lecturers to maintain good standards on the VLE. Have more say, VOTE DAVE. VOTE DAVE! MSRC PRESIDENT
