KX-TDA200/100 System(Ver.1.0) Panasonic Communications Co., Ltd. Network Business Company Edition 1.2 27 Jan., 2003 Chapter 7 Networking(QSIG) (Q-reference point SIGnaling)
What is QSIG? • ISDN based protocol signaling between PBX and PBX. • An protocol for ISDN based on internationally agreed Standards • PBX from different vendors work together, with QSIG connection
Background • Analogue TIE lines (basic voice-band information between the PBXs) ==> QSIG (Higher speed digital lines)
Benefit • QSIG is a powerful inter PBX signaling system. • - A harmonized method • for interconnecting multi-vendor equipment. • - A flexible and cost efficient method of linking PBX. • - A extensive list of supplementary services to enhance • business communications.
Concept chart of QSIG Public ISDN C-reference point (Connects PBX with Intervening network.) Intervening network (Offers the Bearer Service for the QSIG protocol communication.) || Used for the private ISDN line or VPN Q-reference point (Conceptual interface points in PBX.) || The protocol provided here is QSIG.
Composition of protocol • The QSIG & ISDN protocol are similar in composition. • Layer 3 (based on the OSI reference model) are provided as follows. • - QSIG Basic Call • - QSIG Generic Functional procedure • - QSIG Protocols for Supplementary Services • Standard - Basic Call (ETS300 171/172) - Generic procedure (ETS300 239) - Supplementary Services(ETS300 173/237/238 etc.)
QSIG Basic call PBX1 PBX2 PBX3
QSIG Generic Functional procedure • QSIG GF protocol does not control any supplementary service by itself . • It does provide generic layer services to specific supplementary service control entities. • Unlike DSS1, the QSIG GF protocol supports both a connection oriented and connectionless transport mechanism for call independent supplementary services and ANFs.
