Behavioral expectations • Behavior Chart • Green : You’re doing a great job at school! • Yellow: You’ve gotten a warning at school. • Orange: You’ve been spoken to numerous times at school. • Red: You have had a very difficult day at school. • Consequences • Yellow: Warning Only • Orange: Phone Call Home • Red: Phone Call Home; Lunch Detention
Rewards!!! • In Grade 4 we like to focus on the positives!!! Therefore, we encourage the children to stay on green by using positive reinforcement! • Town Meeting Recognition • Marble Jar Parties • Prize Box [green for the month] • PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD’S AGENDA DAILY FOR HOMEWORK AND TO SEE THEIR DAILY COLOR!!!!!
Homework! • Your child will have nightly math and reading homework [20minutes] Monday – Thursday. • Math homework will always have the “reteach” on one side and “practice” on the other. Always do the “reteach” first. • We require students to read 20 minutes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. • Please check your child’s agenda to see their homework requirements.

Imagine It! • Brand new Language Arts program that Grades 4 & 5 are piloting for the district this year. • Emphasis on Technology • Projector • Hover Camera • Newer version of Open Court [L.A. program used K-3]
Grade level expectation • There are many Language Arts grade level expectations in Grade 4. • One example of is: Student will write in all genres: expository, persuasive, and narrative. • What it means: Students will be doing a great amount of writing in the expository, persuasive, and narrative genres. • What it looks like: Students will be practicing writing five-paragraph frequently using grammatically correct sentences in standard English. • Why its important: It is important for our students to be able to write in all genres because they will need these writing skills in their future education.
Envision Math • Math Program used K-5 • Every lesson begins with a review of concepts and a problem of the day • Guided Practice • Independent Practice • Quick Check [Allows us to differentiate instruction during math workshop] • Technology Applications
Grade level expectations • There are many Math grade level expectations in Grade 4. • One example is: Students will need to memorize with fluency their multiplication tables 1-12. • What it means: Students must know their multiplication facts in order to succeed with higher-order thinking skills. • What it looks like: Students will need to practice multiplication tables on a nightly basis. • Why it’s important: It is important so that our students are successful in the area of Mathematics.
