3. Objectives • Not to merely hear the words and understand the linguistic meanings and to believe with ones heart. • Imam al-Gazzali said, “such a person has a lowly-rank and ought not boast of what he has achieved.” • Mere hearing only means soundness of the sense of hearing. • Mere understanding only means that you understand Arabic. • Mere believing in it without kashf only means that you are similar to a young boy.

4. Objectives • Al-Gazzali then says, “Indeed the muqarrabīn are favoured with the Names of Allah in a threefold way.” • The first Knowledge of these Names by witnessing and unveiling. • The second Showing esteem to what has been disclosed to him of these Great Names that releases in him a longing to posses these attributes in every way possible.

5. Objectives • The third Adopting whatever is possible of these attributes, to imitate them and to be adorned with them so that he becomes lordly. مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَنْ يُؤْتِيَهُ اللَّهُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ يَقُولَ لِلنَّاسِ كُونُوا عِبَاداً لِي مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنْ كُونُوا رَبَّانِيِّينَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تُعَلِّمُونَ الْكِتَابَ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَدْرُسُونَ (79) 79. it is not (possible) for any human being to whom Allâh has given the Book and Al-Hukma (the knowledge and understanding of the laws of religion, etc.) and Prophethood to Say to the people: "Be My worshippers rather than Allâh's." on the contrary (He would say): "Be You Rabbaniyun [lordly], because You are teaching the Book, and You are studying it."

6. Fruits • Belief in Allah the Great يقول الشيخ محمد النابلسي : الإيمان بالله شيء ، والإيمان به عظيماً شيء آخر ، قال تعالى في شأن  مًن استحق دخول النار : ﴿ إِنّهُ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ﴾ سورة الحاقة ShaykhMuhammd an-Nabulsi says: Belief in Allah is one thing and belief in Allah the Great is another. Therefore Allah described those who deserved to enter the fire by saying, “They believed not in Allah the Great” The more one contemplates and studies the Names of Allah, the more he shows reverence to Allah, the more he connects to Allah, the more he increases in obedience to Allah.

7. Fruits • قال السيد العلامة الحبيب عمر بن محمد بن سالم بن حفيظ: نزِّه قلبك عن أن تعظِّم من ليس بعظيم عند الرب ... ومن هنا لُعب بها، ومن هنا ضُحك عليها، ومن هنا خُدِعت، ومن هنا شُلَّت حركتُها، ومن هنا تسلّط عليها عدوُّها، عظّموا ما ليس بعظيم عند الله، وقَّروا ما ليس بذي قدرٍ عند المولى تعالى في علاه، وخمِدت في قلوبهم عظمةُ العظماء عند الله Purify your heart from showing reverence to anything non-deserving of reverence by Allah. Because of this the Ummah is being played with; because of this the Ummah is being laughed at; the Ummah has been deceived; their enemies are overpowering them - they showed greatness to that which is not great by Allah; showed reverence to that which has no reverence by Allah the High. The Profound Endless Greatness of Allah has died from within their hearts.

Fruits • Achieving the ultimate honour of knowing Allah • Real bliss in conformity of action and purpose. يقول الشيخ النابلسي : عبادةُ الله علّةُ وجود الإنسان و السعادة في توافق الحركة مع الهدف . وضرب لذلك مثالا للتوضيح : ذهب رجلٌ إلى باريس ، ونام في الفندق ، واستيقظ في صبيحة اليوم الأول ، وسأل : إلى أين أذهب ؟ ما هذا السؤال ؟ نسأله نحن : لماذا أتيت إلى هنا ؟ إن أتيت طالباً فاذهب إلىالمعاهد والجامعات ، وإن أتيت تاجراً فاذهب إلى المعامل والمؤسسات ، وإن أتيت سائحاً فاذهب إلى المتاحف والمتنزهات ، متى يصح عملك في مكان ما ؟ إذا عرفت سر وجودك ، وغاية وجودك ، لذلك لا شيء يعلو في حياة الإنسان على معرفة سر وجوده ، وغاية وجوده

9. The 99 Names of Allah • Allah’s Names are Beautiful {ولله الأسماء الحسنى فادعوه بها وذروا الذين يلحدون في أسمائه سيجزون ما كانوا يعملون} الأعراف : 180 180. and (all) the Most beautiful names belong to Allâh , so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) his Names. they will be requited for what they used to do.

10. The 99 Names of Allah ب-{قل ادعوا الله أو ادعوا الرحمن أياً ما تدعوا فله الأسماء الحسنى}الإسراء : 110 110. Say (O Muhammad ): "Invoke Allâh or invoke the Most Beneficent (Allâh), by whatever Name You invoke Him (it is the same), for to Him belong the best Names. and offer Your Salât (prayer) neither aloud nor In a low voice, but follow a Way between.

11. The 99 Names of Allah { هو الله الخالق البارىء المصور له الأسماء الحسنى ، يسبح له ما في السموات والأرض وهو العزيز الحكيم } الحشر :24 24. He is Allâh, the Creator, the Inventor of All things, the Bestower of forms. to Him belong the best Names. All that is In the heavens and the earth glorify Him. and He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

12. The 99 Names of Allah • Allah’s names are not limited to 99 أخرج ابن حبان عن أبي ذر رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: (ما قال عبدٌ قطُّ إذا أصابه هَمٌّ أو حُزْنٌ : اللَّهمَّ إنِّي عبدُكَ ابنُ عبدِكَ ابنُ أَمَتِكَ ناصِيَتي بيدِكَ ماضٍ فيَّ حُكْمُكَ عَدْلٌ فيَّ قضاؤُكَ أسأَلُكَ بكلِّ اسمٍ هو لكَ سمَّيْتَ به نفسَكَ أو أنزَلْتَه في كتابِكَ أو علَّمْتَه أحَدًا مِن خَلْقِكَ أوِ استأثَرْتَ به في عِلمِ الغيبِ عندَكَ أنْ تجعَلَ القُرآنَ ربيعَ قلبي ونورَ بصَري وجِلاءَ حُزْني وذَهابَ همِّي إلَّا أذهَب اللهُ همَّه وأبدَله مكانَ حُزْنِه فرَحًا ) قالوا : يا رسولَ اللهِ ينبغي لنا أنْ نتعلَّمَ هذه الكلماتِ ؟ قال : ( أجَلْ، ينبغي لِمَن سمِعهنَّ أنْ يتعلَّمَهنَّ )

13. The 99 Names of Allah • ورد في الصحيحين عن أبي هريرة (إن لله تسعة وتسعين اسما ، مائة إلا واحدا ، من أحصاها دخل الجنة ) • أما معنى إحصاء الأسماء فقد اختار الإمام ابن القيم في البدائع (1/164) أن الإحصاء على ثلاثة مراتب هي : • 1- إحصاء ألفاظها وعددها • 2- فهم معانيها ومدلولها • 3- دعاؤه بها

The 99 Names of Allah • قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية في الفتاوى الكبرى 1/217 ( لم يرد في تعيينها حديث صحيح عن النبي ، وأشهر ما عند الناس فيها حديث الترمذي الذي رواه الوليد بن مسلم عن شعيب عن أبي حمزة ، وحفاظ أهل الحديث يقولون هذه الزيادة مما جمعه الوليد بن مسلم عن شيوخه من أهل الحديث ، وفيها حديث ثان أضعف من هذا رواه ابن ماجه ، وقد روي في عددها غير هذين النوعين من جمع بعض السلف ).
