Previous Workload Measurement • Visionware Productivity Model • Productivity goal of 100% • Based on billable charges • “Nursing Time” associated with each charge- established by Infusion Nurses • Drawbacks: • Unable to capture unbillable vital nursing care inaccurate picture of workload • Inability to justify addition of needed positions
Moving to an acuity based staffing model…why make the change? • Increased support of: • improved nurse to patient ratios • relationship based care • primary nursing
How the pilot worked • Updated acuity and number of hours worked by nursing submitted to finance
