  2. Early Life Born in Ravenna, Italy 17th Feb 1653 – 1713 He was an Italian violinist and composer Son of one of the most important families in Italy. He studied Violin from a young age.

  3. Early Life Cont.. • 13 he traveled to Bologna and studies with Giovanni Benvenuti and Leonardo Brugnoli • He soon became part of the Philharmonic Academy of Bologna where they only gathered professional musicians to form a long lasting unity dedicated to making beautiful music.

  4. Compositions "Sonata for Violin and Lute” in 1677 (first compo.) He composed many Concerto Grosso’s such as ‘Sonata da camera in G Major: which was 12 sonatas for tor two violins and flute in 1689 "12 Trio Sonatas for Two Violins and Cello, with Organ Basso Continuo, Opus 1" (1681)”

Accomplishments History has remembered him with such titles as "Founder of Modern Violin Technique," the "World's First Great Violinist," and the "Father of the Concerto Grosso.” He was not the inventor of the Concerto Grossoprinciple he proved the potentialities of the form, popularized it, and wrote the first popular music for it. Corelli was the first person to organize the basic elements of violin technique.

  7. Concerto Grosso? The Concerto Grosso form is the principle of two differently sized instrumental groups. In Corelli's, the smaller group consists of two violins and a cello, and the larger of a string orchestra.

Accomplishments Cont.. • Most of his music was performed and honored throughout all Europe; in fact, his was the most popular instrumental music. • Opus 6 that Corelli labored most diligently and devotedly. • He did not allow many of his compositions to be published during his lifetime, they still became some of the most famous music of the time.   • They are not certain of the date of Composition because throughout his career he wrote and re wrote and altered his compositions constantly.

  9. Influence On The Renaissance Later composers of the period such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Vivaldi changed Corelli’s work in the genre into the solo concerto, in which the solo instrument is of equal importance as the string orchestra.
