Feature Components of Teacher Education @ UCD • Urban Mission, Research I Institution • Commitment to preparing Teacher Leaders • Graduate & Undergraduate Pathways to Initial Licensure in Elementary, Secondary & Special Education • Merged General & Special Education (Unique Dual Licensure Option) • Extensive Partner School Network in 7 metro-area districts (27 schools; all teacher candidates prepared in PDSs) • Seamless transitions to numerous MA Options designed for practicing teachers

Current Partner Schools • 7 Metro Districts– 27 PDSs • 5 High Schools • 5 Middle Schools • 13 Elementary Schools • 2 K-8 Schools • 1 K-12 School
Partner School Infrastructure • University Site Professor (SP) who spends one day a week in the partner school. • School-based Site Coordinator (SC), typically an instructional coach, that supports the partnership functions from the school’s perspective. • Clinical Teacher (CT) is a practicing teacher who mentors teacher candidates during internships. Many were former teacher candidates. • Partner Principal (PP) who provides leadership for the partnership in the school.
Organizational Structures Across Partner School Network Lead Instructors • Each initial licensure course has a lead instructor who collaborates with all other section instructors to ensure consistency, coherence, and fosters innovation within their particular course. • Lead instructors meet monthly to look at curriculum and assessment alignment across the initial licensure program as well as share best pedagogical practices. • Lead instructors also are members of Site Council
Organizational Structures Across Partner School Network Site Council • Comprised of all site professors, site coordinators, and lead instructors; meets monthly • Avenue for Simultaneous Renewal • Share Resources • Professional Development • Engage in Collaborative Inquiry about Dilemmas of Practice • Policy Considerations • Support Admissions Process
Organizational Structures Across Partner School Network Partner Principal Institute • Provides space and time for partner school principals to better understand how their leadership role changes because they are leading a partner school. • Share strategies for innovatively using the resources of the partnership to intentionally support school priorities and goals.
