  2. Summary • The commercial starts with a group of men playing football, with who appears to be Betty White. Betty White is holding the whole team back, and when the team confronts her, saying “You’re playing like Betty White out there,”, they get into an argument. Betty White then eats a Snickers bar and transforms back into who she’s supposed to be and then can play again.

  3. Overview • Although the main characters in the ad are young men, maybe in their 20’s, the ad could target anyone who doesn’t want to play football like Betty White or have to settle for being less than they are because they are hungry. Or anyone who has a sense of humor. • I don’t think the point of this commercial is really to convince you that you won’t be able to perform well without a Snickers bar, but it makes anyone who watches it laugh so they’ll remember it next time they are at the checkout line of the grocery store.

  4. Overview • What makes this ad stand out is definitely the comedic value in watching Betty White get tackled by a bunch of big guys into a puddle of mud. It’s hilarious. Snickers has a lot of these ads, and they pretty much all feature a young guy who turns into an older celebrity because their hungry self exhibits characteristics like the celebrity chosen. They almost always get hurt or screw things up in one way or another and then they get the Snickers bar and it’s all better.

  5. Commercial’s Effect • I don’t really think this is really an effective commercial. It’s not as if anyone’s going to go out and specifically buy a Snickers bar just because they saw this funny commercial. It might get the Snickers name in your mind and make you laugh at the same time, but there’s no real persuasion or pressure here. Unless you’re really dumb, this commercial is not going to make you go out and buy a Snickers bar.
