  1. The Association Eurolife from TarguJiu was founded in 2009, and the aims of the organization of European Festival of Journalism is to support the journalists in the process of professionalization by training programs organized on different specializations. European Festival of Journalism came as a need to unite under the same generic journalists from all Europe that, together, will debate the most important themes which mass-media and the consumer public of mass-media are facing. The first edition of European Festival of Journalism will take place between 09-12 September 2010, in TarguJiu city, Gorj region, Romania, the place where the father of modern sculpture, Constantin Brancusi, has realised and exposed outdoors the most important of his works who conquered the world and revolutionized the modern sculpture. TarguJiu is a small city with almost 90.000 habitants located in the foot of the Carpathians.

  2. The participants to the Festival are famous journalists, young journalists and even students which only now discover the mysteries of this profession, from TV, radio, print and online. We want to participate at least 5 journalists from all UE countries, and Switzerland for which we will try to obtain the costs for traveling and accommodation. Outside the official guests, anybody who want to participate to this Festival is welcome, and the participation to the Conferences , Seminars and workshops is free. Regarding the traveling and accommodation, we will support them by obtaining a discount to the complete package. The journalists invited and accredited to the European Festival of Journalism will have all facilities( camera teams, transmissions by satellite for live corresponding, press room, all free). Throughout the Festival, the Media partners will organize debates in studios especially arranged in well-known areas from TarguJiu as the Table of Silence, the Kiss Gate, the Endless Column, the Prefecture Place, the Heroes Street.

The themes proposed by us for debate are these: climate changes, energy security, media ethics, the impact of economico-financial crise on media, discriminations, emigrations, the role of local and regional media, the education and training for journalists, new media, blog and civic journalism, and the list stays open to your proposal. The debates will be in English. Within the Festival will take place a photojournalism exposition, book launches, expositions. The first partners of the Festival who already joined are Gorj County Council, the Municipality of TarguJiu, Seed Consultance -exclusive partner Landor in Romania, Media 21 Geneva. Also we made proposals to many professional organizations and we are waiting for answers.

Preliminary Program Thursday 09 September 2010: Arrival and registration of participants, the official opening starting at 20.00 Friday 10 September 2010 Starting 11.00: seminars, workshops, conferences, courses, debates on the themes proposed by us and our partners. Saturday 11 September 2010 Starting 11.00:seminars, workshops, conferences, courses, debates, photojournalism expositions, reports projections.Field trip: Discover the traditions from Oltenia, Discover the Orthodox Monasteries from Gorj ( Tismana, Lainici, Polovragi, Crasna) The official close of the Festival Sunday 12 September 2010 transfer of the participants to Bucharest.
