Request for Speed Humps on Highland Ave between Monroe Ave and El Cajon Blvd By Ron Anderson E-mailed to Gary Pence of Traffic Engineering on July 08, 2011 Presented to Kensington Talmadge Planning Group on Oct 12, 2011
This Action Will • reduce speeds • eliminate drag racing on this stretch of road, a history of which goes back over 60 years • reduce vehicle accidents • increase pedestrian safety, hundreds of students have to cross this road every day • increase the overall safety of our homes from speeding vehicles, we shouldn't have to rely on vehicles parked on the street to protect our homes from speeding, out of control vehicles • Please review the following slides and give serious consideration to approving speed humps on this stretch of road. The community would be forever grateful.
New information • On Sept 27th, 2011, the Shift Commander of San Diego Fire and Rescue approved 1 speed hump to be installed on the northern section of Highland Ave in what would be the intersection of Meade (if it crossed Highland Ave) and Monroe Ave.
Crash pictures from accident at Highland and MonroeJuly 24th, 2009 at approx 12:15 AM
Car was traveling North on Highland Ave and due to the high rate of speed was unable to make the right turn onto Monroe Ave. The following was the result:
Impact of crash pushed this parked Ford Explorer up onto the property at 4440 Monroe
Car continued across lawn and side swiped another car parked in front of 4450 Monroe Ave
Car and driver of vehicle ended up here, across the street, along Monroe Ave.
Further evidence that Speed Humps need to be installed along Highland Ave adjacent to Hoover High School
