Linac4 Safety Folder • The referential in matters of safety for Linac4 is the Safety File which dates back to 2008, https://edms.cern.ch/document/905423/1 • The update of this document is in progress to integrate the changes which occurred and detail subjects which were not yet defined: • Interlocked areas and EIS • Dumps • Ion source changes • At the same time, the contents of the document is reorganized according to the new “Quality Procedure for Safety Documentation Management”, https://edms.cern.ch/document/1177755/0.2 • The safety folder is composed of 4 main safety files (separate documents) : • Descriptive part • Demonstrative part (Risk Control Measures) • Operational part • REM part (Records, Experience, Monitoring)
Editorial work progress • Risk control measures regarding high voltage and RF power of the ion source, EDMS 1212106
Operational part • Content : list of the safety-related and operational procedures with the links to the documents • Deadline : • These procedures shall be prepared and approved prior to the commissioning and operation phases • For the ion source: the deadline is October 2012

Linac4 Safety structure • The Project Leader is responsible for Safety in the Project (hecanbeassisted by a PSO). • WorkPackages are responsible for Safety within their WP (and follow the standard safety line Group –- Department assisted by DSO). • The Project provides the global view and the time perspective: • Coordinates safety issues at the interfaces between WPs (transfer of information, coactivity, etc.) • Verifies that Safety issues are correctly considered within the individual WPs. • Directs safety issues in the sense of a minimisation of risks for all the different phases of the project. • From SAPOCO 4.8: Project Leaders are responsible for Safety in their project. They must ensure that all Safety requirements have been taken into account from the design stage and subsequently at all stages of their project’s development through to its dismantling and final disposal.
