(Affiliated to Manipal University) Diploma in Assisted Reproductive Laboratory Technology Assisted reproductive Technology (ART) refers to the methods used to achieve pregnancy by Artificial and partially-artificial means. The techniques are generally used to help infertile patients and those couples who are unable to conceive due to some idiopathic causes. The technology and techniques used in Andrology laboratories help the patients in improving their chances in achieving a pregnancy.
AIM & SCOPE Aim: To help the students learn and understand the importance of Assisted Reproduction and techniques involved. Scope: To acquire complete knowledge about the techniques used to evaluate and diagnose infertility and help in Assisted Reproduction
COURSE CONTENTS • Basic Laboratory techniques • Semen analysis • Biochemistry • Sperm processing • Cryopreservation • IVF laboratory maintenance • Report formatting
OBJECTIVES • The program aims at training students in the various techniques and procedures in Laboratory Andrology. • The students learn the different aspects of Good laboratory practices, handling different equipments, sperm evaluation, enzyme assays, sperm preparation techniques for further surgical procedures.
OUTCOME • The graduates of this program acquire all the skills of working in a laboratory comprising specialized instruments. • The program is intended to train students in different Andrology laboratory practices giving them confidence to work in any such related laboratories or research institutes.
ADMISSION & FEES • Duration: The course is spread over 12 months including 50 hours of Theory and Practicals. • Eligibility criteria: BVSc., BSc., MSc., Ph.D., MBBS, BE (Biotechnology), Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT), Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (BSc.MLT). • Intake: The program academic year starts in January. We admit a maximum of 2 students per year. • Program admission fee:
ASSESSMENT • Continuous Internal Assessment: 3 Internal tests each of 25 marks. 2 tests in the 1st semester and 1 in the 2nd semester. • Final Examination: 6 papers evaluated for 125 marks each (100 for the exam, 25 for the internals) Total -750. Passing Criteria - Minimum 50% marks in Internal, theory and practical evaluation
